Method
Finely dice the onion and carrot and mince the garlic.
Heat a splash of oil in a saucepan over medium heat and cook the onion and carrot for 5 minutes until softened.
Add the garlic and ground beef, breaking it up as it browns, for 6-7 minutes.
Stir in the strained tomatoes and simmer uncovered over low heat for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rich and thickened.
About 10 minutes before serving, cook the spaghetti in boiling salted water for 10-11 minutes until al dente, then drain.
Season the bolognese sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
