Method

  1. Scrub the clams under cold water and discard any that stay open when tapped.
  2. Boil the spaghetti in well salted water for 9 minutes, saving a cup of the cooking water.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a wide pan and cook the sliced garlic and chili flakes over medium heat for 90 seconds.
  4. Add the halved cherry tomatoes and cook for 4 minutes until they slump and release their juice.
  5. Tip in the clams with a splash of the pasta water, cover and steam for 4 minutes until they open, discarding any that do not.
  6. Add the drained spaghetti and toss for 1 minute, then finish with the chopped parsley.
